Earlier on Monday, we covered an article in Sunday’s Corriere dello Sport claiming that Tottenham had €50m ready to be spent on Nicolo Zaniolo as well as a five-year contract waiting for him in London should he choose to leave Roma.
The 19-year-old has been one of the revelations of the season in Italy, and while his form has dipped a little towards the end of the campaign, this hasn’t put off potential suitors, including Spurs.
In fact, according to Gazzetta dello Sport journalist Nicolo Schira, Tottenham sent a scout to watch the youngster in action on Sunday as Roma needed to overcome Juventus to keep their Champions League hopes alive.
They did exactly that by beating Cristiano Ronaldo and co. 2-0 at home thanks to goals from Edin Dzeko and Alessandro Florenzi.
Down his end, Zaniolo played the full 90 minutes, and was yellow carded in the 75th minute.
Plucked from the youth team by Eusebio di Francesco and with two games to go in Serie A, the youngster’s tally for the season so far is six goals and two assists in 35 appearances in all competitions.
