Ever since their days together at Bayern Munich, Pep Guardiola has been a big fan of Toni Kroos.

The Spaniard has never hidden it, and the decision to let the midfielder leave for Real Madrid was one the German club probably regret, such has his stock risen in Spain following the move.

El Confidencial in Spain looked at the Germany international’s situation under Zinedine Zidane over the weekend, and a decision will need to be taken at the end of the season.

Does the Frenchman count on his midfielder enough to agree to give him a new contract and keep him around, or, at 29 years of age, is it time to sell him, with three years left on his current deal, for a nice fee to fill the club’s coffers?

The Spanish outlet explain Manchester City’s doors are ‘wide open’ for the German thanks to Pep Guardiola, and should Real Madrid agree to let Kroos leave, that would be the likeliest landing spot.

The former Bayern Munich player was left out of Sunday’s squad against SD Huesca, but has made 36 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring one goal and assisting teammates five times.
