Liverpool have identified 1. FC Nürnberg star Stefanos Tzimas as a target to improve their squad.
Last summer, the striker joined the second division German club on loan from PAOK and has managed eight goals and two assists from 14 league games this season.
Tzimas’ displays have seen Liverpool and other clubs show interest, according to Sky Deutschland.
As well as the Reds, Aston Villa, Chelsea and Brighton & Hove Albion are chasing the 19-year-old. Arne Slot’s have taken further steps by contacting Nürnberg and the player over a potential deal.
Nürnberg have an option to buy the Greece U21 international for €18m and are likely to exercise it so they can sell him for a profit.
Recent claims in the UK have said Liverpool are keen on securing the frontman’s services and Bild, after relaying that, provide their own take on this case.
They state the Merseyside club have already held discussions with both the lower division German side and Tzimas’ agent, but talks aren’t as concrete as reported in the UK.
Nürnberg sporting director Olaf Rebbe told Bild that the attacker won’t be allowed to leave in the winter market, but the situation will be different in the summer.
“We won’t give up any top performers in the winter. With a view to the summer, we are of course already examining a few options,” he said.
Bild state Nürnberg should be able to make €5m profit if Tzimas is sold for €30m.
