Since the English media put out a story saying Manchester United are interested in a loan swap with Flamengo between Antony and Gabriel Barbosa, the Brazilian press has published many stories to dismiss it.
Reports today first claimed it would make no sense for the Red Devils to be interested in Gabigol at this stage of his career, while Antony’s entourage said he’s set to stay at Old Trafford for longer.
Now it’s time for Flamengo to put an end to this story, as their vice-president was interviewed by O Globo.
The outlet made brief contact to ask Marco Braz about the possibility of this deal, and the club chief said: “Zero chance”.
Gabigol is now 27, going through a difficult time at Flamengo, where he’s been benched. Earlier today, journalist Vene Casagrande said the rumours of an exit are only because he’s negotiating a new contract with the club.
Meanwhile, journalist Jorge Nicola claimed that Manchester United still have faith in Antony, and Erik ten Hag will continue to give him chances to succeed at the club.
