At 21 years of age, Pierre Barremaecker still has his whole career in front of him, and to aspire to play for one of the top six teams in the Premier League isn’t unrealistic.
He has a long way to go, though, currently playing for Valenciennes’ reserves, but you only have to look at what Laurent Koscielny achieved to realise it isn’t impossible, and that’s exactly what he’s doing.
The Arsenal centre-back and France international was playing in Ligue 2 with Tours at around the same age, before moving to Lorient at the age of 23, which eventually led to his transfer to Arsenal a year later.
That career path is what Barremaecker looks at, idolising the Gunners’ defender, with the ambition of one day playing at the Emirates.
“If I could one day wear the France shirt, that would really be a magical moment in my career.”
Anything is possible, and all he needs is the right performance at the right time with the right person watching to get the right move that puts him in the right direction to achieve his goals.
Simple, right?
After all, we’ve seen it happen before.
Perhaps he should give Arsenal’s France scout Gilles Grimandi a call.
