Several Portuguese newspapers today have a story on midfielder Vitinha, who’s heading back to Porto this summer.

Following a loan spell at Wolverhampton Wanderers last season, the 21-year-old could have been signed for a fee of only €20m until yesterday, and that clause was not triggered by the Molineux side.

That sale would have been an important factor for Porto’s Financial Fair Play, who’ll now need to look for other resources so they don’t get punished by UEFA.

Now regarding Wolves’ decision not to keep Vitinha, we see a few interesting comments from local newspapers, with some of them claiming it was the English side’s wish to have him for longer.

Newspaper Jornal De Notícias says the loan was originally planned for the move to become permanent. However, Wolves are one of the many clubs who’ve been through financial difficulties due to the pandemic, and that’s why they couldn’t trigger the clause.

Still, the outlet say it’s ‘possible’ that the Molineux side try a deal in the coming weeks, even if using different terms from those which had been previously agreed.

Porto will no longer accept a loan, and will have the help of agent Jorge Mendes to help them find a good deal for Vitinha this summer.
