Last night, reports from Portuguese TV claimed that Sporting midfielder João Palhinha was close on moving to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

It was said Wolves would pay between €12m and €14m for the player, despite the Lions’ wish to make €15m with his sale.

Now it’s time for newspaper A Bola to bring an update on the situation, and they claim there’s still another club in the race for the player.

It’s reported CSKA currently have representatives in Russia to negotiate a deal. They previously had a €10m bid rejected, and know that Sporting want €15m.

A Bola claims that the Lions are waiting for offers both from the Russians and from Wolves. The Premier League side are said to be ‘attentive’ and ‘secure’ that they’ll end up landing the player.

Meanwhile, CSKA are expected to bid something close to €12m, so Wolverhampton better be sure that they’ll make the best offer.

Palhinha spent the last season having a loan spell at Braga, where he did pretty well, but isn’t in Sporting’s plans for the future.
