Wolverhampton Wanderers are about to sign Sporting midfielder João Palhinha, according to claims from Portugal this evening.

TVI24 journalist Rui Pedro Braz says the deal is ‘very close to materialising’.

Following their summer signings, Sporting are in huge need of money, and are now working on several sales to help pay their debts.

It’s said the initial intention was to sell Palhinha for around €15m, but Wolves should be paying between €12m and €14m.

There are no further details for now. Rui Pedro Braz only says this is a good deal for everyone, since Sporting are making their profit, Wolves are paying a fair price and João Palhinha should have a good chance to succeed in the Premier League.

Palhinha has been linked to Wolves for a while now. The latest story about this chase was reported by A Bola last weekend.

The midfielder has just returned from a great season on loan at Braga, but apparently isn’t in Sporting’s plans for the coming year.
