Even though the rumours linking Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Ruben Neves to Barcelona continue to be strong, it’s a strange situation.

Catalan outlet Sport today features a story where they name several targets the Camp Nou side have for the midfield position, with Martín Zubimendi and Sofyan Amrabat apparently showing up as priorities.

When speaking of Neves, it’s said it’s ‘all set’ in terms of a verbal agreement, with the Wolves player ‘waiting for the OK to travel’ and complete the move. Still, it’s claimed that he’s not an option liked by Barcelona boss Xavi, previously it was said that wouldn’t matter.

Speaking of Real Betis midfielder Guido Rodriguez, Sport claims that even though that alternative is ‘cold’, Barça’s staff still like him more than Neves.

So the Wolves player may be ready to fly and sign for the La Liga giants, but with the Catalan media making it clear he’s not that wanted by the manager, it looks more like it’s him who’s hoping to complete that transfer.

And, of course, Jorge Mendes, with the agent as yet unable to convince Ansu Fati to move the other way.
