Chelsea are monitoring Santos youngster JP Chermont and evaluating a move for the full-back in the near future.

That’s according to UOL, who report that the 18-year-old has found himself in Chelsea’s sights after establishing himself as a starter for Santos.

They report that he is being ‘closely monitored’ by Chelsea, who are very interested in the player and monitoring his development.

In fact, they sent a scout to watch him last Saturday in the win over Operário. They were not the only side to do so as scouts from Italian side were also at Vila Belmiro to watch him.

Chelsea already saw an approach for the player rejected by Santos in August. The Blues had signalled they would be willing to make an offer of €6m. They’re now considering a new bid at the end of this year, likely in the January transfer window.

JP Chermont has a contract with Santos until the end of 2027 that includes a release clause worth €70m.

It’s very unlikely Santos would want anything near that for a player who has made just 29 appearances in their first team to date but it is a figure worth considering.

Chelsea aren’t opposed to spending money, of course, and the Brazilian side will be well aware of that fact as it seems they gear up for another proposal being made in the coming months.
