Despite the long list of scouts who watched Benfica playing Lyon for the Champions League last night, it’s really Wolverhampton Wanderers’ name that caught our attention.
The Molineux side haven’t been shy of entering the Portuguese market, getting several deals with local clubs in the past couple of years.
It’s newspaper A Bola who reports Wolves’ visit to the Estádio da Luz, although they don’t point out who the scouts could be watching.
Wolves have been linked to a few Benfica players in the past year, especially the likes of Ruben Dias and Gedson Fernandes. They both started in the 2-1 win last night.
Captain Ruben Dias was once again one of Benfica’s best players, showing his usual security in the back. Gedson didn’t do that well, despite several attempts at creating something in the attack.
These continue to be difficult men to take out of the Eagles, so Wolves would have to make some big efforts to get these signings.
Benfica’s goals were scored by Rafa Silva and Pizzi, while Memphis Depay was responsible for Lyon’s goal.
And Wolves continue to be aware of everything that happens in Nuno Espírito Santo’s country.
