Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly in talks for Velez Sarsfield youngster Maximo Perrone.

The news comes from Argentina, where journalist César Luis Merlo claims Wolves are currently ‘negotiating’ for the transfer.

It’s claimed that in case the Molineux side reach an agreement with Velez Sarsfield, then the player still isn’t moving to England just yet. He’s set to finish the South American season at his club, and only then complete the transfer.

For now, there’s no information on how much Wolves would pay for the signing. The midfielder is valued by Trasnfermarkt at €2m, but with the website usually keeping a low evaluation of South American prospects, it’s unlikely he’d cost just that much.

Despite his young age, Perrone has been a regular starter for Velez Sarsfield. And since the club are about to play the Copa Libertadores semifinals against Flamengo on the 31st of August and the 7th of September, it’s obvious they’ll do their best to hold the player until the end of the season.

His presence at the continental tournament, however, also helps him and Wolves to get a work permit for the Premier League.
