As Rui Patrício’s saga to leave Sporting goes on, the Portuguese goalkeeper should have a very important day in this process tomorrow.

Newspaper Record reports that Thursday is the deadline for him to withdraw the request to terminate his contract with the Lions.

The player took action last Friday, when his transfer to Wolverhampton collapsed, and had seven days to give up on the decision.

As nothing changed at Sporting, and Bruno de Carvalho continues to be the president, it’s thought that Patrício will keep the request, with his future being decided by a legal process.

The good thing for Wolves is that the agreement to sign the goalkeeper would still be on in both scenarios, according to Record.

In case Bruno de Carvalho steps down, then the clubs could resume the talks, maybe for the same €18m that had been agreed last week.

And in case the president continues to be intransigent, then the process for Patrício to terminate the contract continues, and the court will decide if he can move to Wolves on a free transfer.
