A ‘surprising attack’ from Wolverhampton Wanderers for an AC Milan star is reported by the Italian media today.
Website Calciomercato brings a report saying the Premier League side made an attempt to sign Rafael Leão in the last window.
It’s claimed that the Portuguese wonderkid was seen as a replacement for Diogo Jota, who left the Molineux to join Liverpool.
But Wolves didn’t even get close to signing Leão, according to the story, as Milan know they have a ‘diamond’ in their hands, and didn’t even want to listen to an offer.
The website claims that the signing would have the approval of manager Nuno Espírito Santo, who likes the player and would like to bring him to Wolves.
Calciomercato says Leão is ‘very happy’ at Milan, and doesn’t even mention the chance of a move in the near future.
This is the second time in short succession the website has talked about Wolverhampton’s interest in the player, and the fact they keep doing so is either because he’s doing so well and they want to show off the fact Milan can stand up to Premier League money, or Wolves are still circling and it’s a ‘back off’ warning.
