Even though the Spanish press consider Jonathan Calleri’s move from West Ham to Las Palmas done, the word in Brazil is completely different.
And according to UOL today, Calleri told people close to him that he has no intention of joining Las Palmas. His father has also denied the deal.
Maldonado, the club who is run by agents and bought the player from Boca Juniors for €10m, expect to keep him in Europe with hope of still making some profit. But Calleri wants a bigger club.
In case they don’t find a good deal before 20th of January, then São Paulo’s offer would be accepted, keeping the striker on loan at the Brazilian side until the end of 2017.
On Friday, the player spoke to ESPN Brasil, and not only revealed that he keeps contact with São Paulo representatives, but also said that a return would be possible.
Calleri scored 16 goals between February and July for São Paulo last year, before moving to West Ham. That’s why the fans are very hopeful of his return and the board are working hard on the signing.
The claims in Spain said Calleri had a preference for Las Palmas, so this is completely contradictory stuff.
