Darwin Nunez did it again last night, this time scoring Benfica’s winner against Ajax in Amsterdam which took the Eagles to the Champions League’s quarter-finals.
Now even though the Portuguese media is today far too busy today to write about transfer rumours, we get to see Italian outlet Calcio Mercato speaking of the striker’s future.
It turns out West Ham are named as one of the main contenders for the signing, both because of their past efforts for the 22-year-old, and for what is to come.
Calcio Mercato says the Hammers made a €48m offer for Nunez on the last day of the January transfer window. That was not enough to convince Benfica, and now, the London side area ‘ready to relaunch’ their efforts for his transfer.
Darwin Nunez now has 26 goals scored in 33 appearances this season, and there’s big expectation in Portugal about his departure from Benfica.
He’s protected by the Eagles with a release clause worth €150m, and that will be useful once clubs come for him, as besides West Ham, the likes of Atletico Madrid are said to be interested as well.
