IFK Norrköping manager Jens Gustafsson managed to get West Ham United midfielder Sead Haksabanovic on loan in January, but wanted to sign the youngster on a permanent deal.
The 19 year old had gone through a tough loan spell at Malaga and the Hammers found a new destination, keen to get their player some more experience.
After the 18 month loan deal was complete, Gustafsson explained how much he, and West Ham, think of the player: “West Ham have huge belief in Seda which meant we had to accept an 18 month loan. I think this is a player that many will enjoy when he plays. Sead is a creative and hardworking football player, who works for the team.”
Now Haksabanovic has spoken himself about the winter market move and made it clear he just wants to feel good in his football, because that will help him progress.
Asked to elaborate, he explained: “It feels like you are in a European club when you are here. It’s the very good quality of the exercises, outside, how to care and all that.
“It helps us football players very much. For example, it is easier to get off to a gym that is so fresh and good as ours than to go to a gym that is not. It should be fun to go to the gym and it is when we have the conditions we have, they have done it really well here and I am surprised at how good it is.”
Asked what his aims are for the loan, the West Ham owned player said: “It is mostly to start playing again, get the joy back, the confidence back and just get out and do what I do. Have fun and enjoy the football again.”
