It seems Sampdoria have pulled their fingers out and decided they’re going to pay up for Pedro Obiang on Friday.
Earlier, we relayed the latest from Gazzetta dello Sport, who claimed the Serie A side had only offered West Ham €9m (bonuses included) for the 26-year-old, but were confident a deal could be done.
Clearly, that wasn’t the case, as Nicolo Schira, a journalist for the above newspaper, and whose name appeared on the morning article, has provided an update on his Twitter.
According to him, Obiang is ‘getting closer’ to Sampdoria for around €11m, which is much closer to the €12m the Hammers wanted for the Spaniard.

The Italian club were hoping the midfielder’s desire to return to his former club would be key in getting a deal done at a lower price, and it seems that could be happening.
It’s only knocking €1m off, but it’s certainly money saved if the price stays that way.
