Earlier this week, there were reports from the English press claiming that West Ham United are in the chase for Vitória Guimarães winger Marcus Edwards, who was signed from Tottenham Hotspur.

It was claimed the Hammers are leading the competition against several English sides for the 22-year-old.

The Portuguese media brings a little response to it today, as newspaper Record has a short story showing Vitória Guimarães’ point of view.

They point out that Edwards has no release clause, and the club won’t even considering letting him go for less than €15m.

There’s actually a very good reason for Vitória not to put the price down. When signing him from Tottenham last year, they let the London side keep 50% of a future move. So technically, the Portuguese club only get half of his sale.

Record also points out that Edwards hasn’t been impressing as much as he was last season, as he only has one goal and two assists in 10 appearances so far.

The English media claimed that besides West Ham, the player has also attracted interest from Crystal Palace, Fulham, Southampton, Brentford, Bournemouth and Swansea City.
