Sent to Marseille to get the minutes Mikel Arteta wasn’t ready to give him, William Saliba has been one of the shining stars under Jorge Sampaoli.
The odd bad game aside, the player has been a rock for the Ligue 1 side at the back, which has got Arsenal fans excited about him returning.
Whether Arteta is willing to use him going forward remains to be seen, but there are a number of clubs interested in signing him, including West Ham United.
That information comes from Jeunes Footeux in France, who explain that the Hammers, who certainly could do with another centre-back in their squad, have made Saliba a ‘priority’.
In fact, West Ham are so desperate to sign the Arsenal man that they could even put ‘up to €30m’ on the table for him.
We’ll have to see if they actually do, but with Marseille a bit strapped for cash right now and other clubs circling, it’s likely to cost a bit more than that.
David Moyes, though, will want to be backed after the club’s January transfer window failures, so perhaps a bit of money could be spent in the summer by the West Ham board.
However, if Arsenal want to keep him, then they will be fighting an uphill battle.
