Portuguese newspaper Record have a section in their Sunday edition looking at William Carvalho’s situation.
It’s stated that West Ham are ‘trying everything’ to close a deal for the midfielder, even if some of those tactics haven’t been to the pleasing of Sporting and the Portuguese media.
West Ham’s current crisis situation is of course mentioned, making the need for Carvalho greater, and it’s even claimed a big bunch of fans want Slaven Bilic gone. It’s easy to suspect the Portuguese press are enjoying the Hammers’ start to the season.
Carvalho’s recent absenteeism from games is explained as a technical decision because Sporting are in ‘advanced negotiations’ to sell the midfielder. Those negotiations are with ‘English clubs’, with only West Ham named and Bilic’s side said to be out in the lead.
The idea of other Premier League clubs coming in the picture has clearly been pushed to the Portuguese media over the past 24 hours, which could be Sporting matching West Ham at playing games.
With only days left of the transfer window, the clubs need to bang their heads together. West Ham clearly want Carvalho and Sporting could do with the sale.
