There are transfers that surprise you, and then there’s Nacer Chadli swapping West Brom for AS Monaco.

The Belgian winger, who in April had featured more times for country than he had the Baggies last season, ended up going to the World Cup with Roberto Martinez’s side, will be playing in Ligue 1 and the Champions League next year.

According to RMC Sport’s Mohamed Bouhafsi, the principality side are set to pay Darren Moore’s side €12m for the 29-year-old’s services, adding experience to Leonardo Jardim’s young side.

The Belgium international is reportedly already in Monaco, and is expected to pass his medical on Thursday afternoon ahead of his move being completed before the end of the transfer window in France.

Chadli had yet to feature this season for West Brom, indicating his days at the Hawthorns were numbered, and it was just a case of the right club offering him the chance to relaunch his career.
