West Bromwich Albion have made a last minute attempt to sign Lazio attacker Keita Balde Diao, according to claims in the Italian media. The young Spaniard could leave the Serie A club after clashing with the club over an injury he picked up earlier this month.
Corriere dello Sport have reported this morning that WBA have tabled an offer of €18m to sign Keita before the deadline tonight. The Premier League side are looking to take advantage of the player’s situation at Lazio, and the next few hours will be crucial for the future of the young attacker.
However, Lazio are looking for offers in the region of €30m, and WBA will need to come back in with an improved offer after their initial bid was turned down.
Keita has been linked with a move to the Premier League in the past 12 months following Aston Villa’s attempts to try to sign him last summer. Aston Villa put in a bid of €11m, but at the time Lazio were holding out for €15m. Since then his valuation has increased following a decent season with the Italian club.
