Fenerbahce vice-president Acun Ilıcalı has revealed to the Turkish press they’ve received an offer from a Premier League side for their young defender Yusuf Akçiçek.
The 19-year-old has been linked with a move to Aston Villa in the past week following reports of an offer from the English club.
Fanatik have reported on comments made by Ilıcalı when asked about the interest from other clubs for Akçiçek. The Fener vice-president said a meeting was held with a top flight English club, but despite a bid coming in they are not looking to sell at this stage.
“We had a verbal meeting for Yusuf. After the Anderlecht game, a sporting director from the Premier League texted me saying, now it’s £20 million, but we don’t plan to sell him,” said the Fener official.
Fanatik report that Fenerbahce are looking for at least €40m for the young central defender following reported interest from Aston Villa.
This week there have been claims in the Turkish press that the Premier League side came in with an offer for Akçiçek, but this was rejected by the Istanbul giants.
Subcequently Fenerbahce have reacted to this and are ready to offer the youngster an improved contract, which would see his salary substantially increase.
Akçiçek has made 15 appearances under Jose Mourinho this season, scoring two goals. He’s contracted to the Yellow Canaries until June 2028.
