A couple of days ago Catalan newspaper Sport edged Luis Enrique closer to the Arsenal job.
With Thomas Tuchel set to take over at PSG, the options for Enrique are less and Sport believe Arsenal is one of them. Likewise, with Tuchel going to PSG, the options for Arsenal are also fewer.
It was claimed Arsenal ‘seem to be determined’ that Arsene Wenger will be going at the end of the season.
Those in charge at the Premier League club, above Wenger, are said to have seen over the past few months the ‘sporting project’ isn’t going the way it should and a new manager is needed.
Arsenal want ‘fresh air’ and Enrique is apparently the man who can provide it. The history of Arsenal is presented as alluring, a good opportunity for the former Barcelona manager.
Then after that, Mundo Deportivo backed it up, reporting Arsenal have an ‘advantage’ over others with Enrique and are in ‘pole position’ to get the manager.
The presence of Raul Sanllehi would ‘facilitate’ the Spaniard’s arrival, and it would be Sanllehi, himself formerly of Barcelona, behind the swoop.
Chelsea are mentioned, but it’s thought they now have other priorities.
This all goes against a second Mundo Deportivo claim that Chelsea are the likelier, and not Arsenal.
Should Wenger win the Europa League with Arsenal it presents to opportunity for an exit with some glory, but on the other hand it may instead give the manager determination to continue for at least another season.
