Turkish newspaper Fanatik have claimed Fenerbahce are in talks over signing a host of left backs ahead of the winter transfer window, including Manchester United outcast Luke Shaw.
Fanatik claim Fenerbahce are exploring the possibility of signing Shaw on loan from Manchester United in January, but it’ll be quite a task for the Turkish giants to land the youngster.
The Turkish giants are keen to strengthen in this department, and they’ve again been linked with Chelsea pair Baba Rahman and Kenedy, who they tried to sign in the summer.
Southampton have been linked with Shaw in recent days, in what would be considered an unlikely return for the player. Mauricio Pellegrino’s side may well be seen as a safe haven for Shaw and a chance to start again, but a Southampton return would also be step backwards.
Shaw has struggled to convince Jose Mourinho since the Portuguese coach arrived at Old Trafford last year, and the England international is currently behind Matteo Darmian, Ashley Young and Daley Blind in the pecking order.
With Marcus Rojo regaining his fitness after his long layoff, Shaw’s chances are likely to be further limited in the coming weeks, and a move in the new year may have to be considered.
Mourinho was annoyed with Shaw when he chose to move from Southampton to Old Trafford, and turn down the Chelsea options, and there’s every chance the manager has held that against him.
A move to Fenerbahce would be a shock, but Shaw surely has to go somewhere if Mourinho is to continue at Manchester United. The manager’s decision to ostracise Shaw to the point of it becoming comical, shows there’s little reason to stay.
