Chelsea’s Joao Felix has had a frustrating loan stint at AC Milan.
After scoring impressively on his debut in the Coppa Italia, the Portuguese attacker has faded off and is not making an impact. He’s played 11 times in Serie A, failing to score even once.
This means there’s is a clear possibility of him returning to Chelsea, who would then have further decisions to make.
In the meantime, Joao Felix has spoken to Gazzetta dello Sport about his time at Milan so far and how the idea of joining the Italian giants took shape.
He told the newspaper, when asked what he thought when Milan first came calling: “Before the offer arrived, I watched Milan games and thought that I would have liked to play in that shirt. When the offer came, everything became very easy: I told my agent to do everything possible to close the deal and it went well.”
Speaking further about his admiration for the Rossoneri, the Portugal international said:
“Together with Barcelona, Real Madrid and a few others, Milan is among the elite of the most important clubs in the world. It is different to wear this shirt than to wear others. And when Milan comes after you, it is difficult to say no.”
This somewhat points to the fact that the attacker’s decision to leave Chelsea didn’t come all of a sudden and it was in the works behind-the-scenes.
More than that, the interview seems to be a way for the player to make it clear that he feels a lot for Milan and would be interested in staying beyond the season. He even spoke about having moved into a house and how much he’s enjoying living in the city.
Considering how the 25-year-old performed for Chelsea earlier in the season, with a little over 300 Premier League minutes, he doesn’t seem to have a big future with the Blues.
