Some interesting quotes in the Italian media today are back to linking Victor Osimhen to Manchester United.
That’s said by agent Roberto De Fanti, who was interviewed by TuttoMercatoWeb at the Transfer Room event in Rome.
The representative mentioned Manchester United a couple of times in the conversation, and was first asked whether the Red Devils will improve soon and if they need to change managers.
He said: “The Manchester United bench is the most difficult bench ever. There has been talk for many, too many years about the post-Ferguson era…. Ten Hag is also doing a decent job and I don’t know if changing the coach again is the right choice. And anyway, should he win the FA Cup, he should be confirmed.”
“I could say everyone, but the truth is that United in particular are looking for a centre forward. Højlund is doing quite well, but the classic number 9 – the Haaland of the situation – can be Osimhen.”
Osimhen has 13 goals and four assists in 24 appearances for Napoli this season, and even though he hasn’t been as impressive as in the last season, that shouldn’t stop big European clubs from trying his signing in the summer, with a €130m release clause in his contract.
Manchester United indeed invested heavily on the arrival of Højlund from Atalanta last year, but with the Red Devils often ending up short of players in attack, perhaps they could indeed consider the signing of a new centre-forward this year.
They should just be aware that besides Osimhen’s price, there’s also the big competition for his transfer among Premier League clubs.
