Aston Villa are among the clubs chasing Lille star Jonathan David, according to Tuttosport.
The striker’s deal expires in 2025 and he’s managed 13 goals and two assists from 17 matches. This includes goals against Real Madrid, Atlético Madrid and Juventus in the Champions League.
David’s performances and contract situation have seen several clubs, including Aston Villa, show interest in him.
Juventus and Inter Milan are keen on signing the Canada international. The Nerazzurri sporting director, Piero Ausilio, has made contacts with the player’s camp in recent weeks.
Tuttosport state David wants a five-year deal worth €6m per year excluding bonuses. In addition to this, he wants a ‘double-digit package’ for signing on bonus and agent fee.
This could be high for the Serie A duo, but they will still try to sign the player. It’s claimed they have to ‘watch out’ for the competition from the Premier League, where Aston Villa are in the mix. As well as the Villans, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea are also mentioned.
Unai Emery’s side and other English clubs have ‘money to break the bank’ [to meet his financial demands], if they are keen to sign David. These clubs will ‘look further into this issue in December’.
If Aston Villa or any other Premier League side don’t make an approach, Juventus or Inter could sign him next summer.
