On March 27th, Calciomercato.it explained Leroy Sané doesn’t favour returning to Germany in the summer and he would rather prefer to join Barcelona.

Kicker now states people in the Manchester City winger’s environment are suggesting his desire to join Bayern Munich is ‘disappearing more and more’.

The magazine also provides the Bundesliga winners’ stance on the 24-year-old.

The sporting and financial situation is unclear and so will be the transfer market, after the Covid-19 outbreak. The Bavarian club’s decision makers are awaiting developments.

It’s claimed Bayern are skeptical of the Germany international’s decision to ‘suddenly cancel the two yeses he had given FC Bayern in advance’ and sought for a new negotiation with his new representatives.

They also believe there’s a serious financial risk of investing in Sané, who hasn’t showcased his old form after recovering from injury [that’s because he is yet to feature for City’s first team].

Sané’s contract at the Etihad is until 2021 and Bayern are questioning whether they should invest heavily on him in the summer. Before the Coronavirus crisis, his valuation was around €100m.

Even if the wideman’s price were to drop significantly – say to €80m or €50-60m – then a large part of Bayern’s summer budget will be invested in signing the City player. In addition to this, he would also be one of the top earners at the club.

Should Bayern invest in signing Sané, then their ‘framework for other signings’ would be restricted.

These arguments are discussed internally between the decision makers at Bayern and they have come to the conclusion that the current transfer ‘trend is against’ Pep Guardiola’s man.

Therefore, Time Werner still remains an option for Bayern, according to the report.

The Bundesliga giants don’t have to negotiate with RB Leipzig for Werner because of his fixed release clause of €50-60m. He could also be a long-term successor for Robert Lewandowski.

Kicker’s report provides stance from both Bayern and Sané’s environment, and the suggestion now is that both parties believe it may not be best to go ahead with the transfer.
