On Monday, Marca stated that Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili had received the green light to join Liverpool. It was also reported he completed medical tests with the Reds yesterday.
The 23-year-old will soon complete a move to Liverpool and return to the La Liga side on a loan deal.
The front page of today’s Superdeporte has ‘Get Back’ written in bold, reproducing the famous Abbey Road album cover from The Beatles, but this time featuring Giorgi.
Valencia owner Peter Lim and president, Lay Hoon Chan, wanted the stopper to be their big sale of this window. They had desired €40m, but Liverpool sealed the deal for €30m, plus €5m in bonuses, and let him return on loan.
When asked about Mamardashvili’s sale to Liverpool yesterday, Valencia director Miguel Ángel Corona said: “There is a lot of closeness to reach the agreement, which includes his presence for one more season with us.”

Superdeporte point out that the director then insisted that the deal has been ‘closed’ after the two clubs ironed out the final details. The report adds Liverpool carried out his medical tests in a hospital in Valencia.
Lim and Chan aren’t getting the desired fee of €40m but will get Mamardashvili on loan for a season.
