According to a claim in the Turkish media, Besiktas are looking at the possibility of life without their star forward Cenk Tosun.
The Turkey international has been in impressive form this season, and subsequently he’s been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur in recent weeks, after the Premier League side held talks with the player’s agent
Last month we covered reports from Turkey that Tottenham held initial talks with the forward’s agent and father Senol Tosun in Germany. Tosun has put in some good displays in the Champions League this season, and last week he became Besiktas all-time top scorer in the competition.
However, this has brought him to the attention likes of Tottenham, with some wild claims Tosun could be brought in to replace Harry Kane.
HaberTurk now report Besiktas are already lining up a potential replacement for Tousn, as speculation grows that he’ll be heading to England in the January window. The Turkish newspaper haven’t claimed who will be brought in to replace Tosun, but two players have already been identified by the Besiktas board.
The Turkish club already looking for Tosun’s replacement gives all interested sides a hint a move is half expected. Tottenham are likely to face competition from other Premier League clubs, with Crystal Palace and Newcastle United also linked to the player.
At 26 years of age, Tosun may prefer a ‘lesser’ club than Tottenham right now, given he wouldn’t be first choice. There’s every chance Sours have been dragged into the situation to give Tosun’s standing some extra backing, although he doesn’t need it, and the claims of talks in Germany seemed quite detailed.
