When Kyle Walker started being strongly linked to Manchester City, the rumours saying Tottenham Hotspur would be after a replacement showed up, and Ricardo Pereira was considered a target.
It was even claimed Tottenham had submitted an offer as low as €12m, which was obviously refused.
After Walker actually signed for Pep Guardiola’s side, the links with Pereira disappeared a little, even though he’s still available for the same price as before.
As reported by A Bola today, Porto consider the right-back’s renewal an ‘urgent’ matter, because his release clause is too low.
Pereira has just returned from a long loan spell in France, and the Portuguese club realise he can be very useful in their squad this season.
But Tottenham or any European club can take Pereira for only €25m, which is undoubtedly a low price for the current transfer market. So Porto this figure must be raised as soon as possible, and that’s what the club’s board aim to do.
A Bola say that Porto’s idea is to do something similar to what they did with André Silva. A year ago, he also had a €25m release clause, then they raised it to €60m, and last month he was sold to Milan in a €38m deal.
So in case Tottenham are still looking for a right-back, and find Pereira a good man for the job, they better hurry up. Of all the right-back’s linked to Spurs this summer, Pereira is one of the ideas which makes most sense.
