After a lot of internal talks, Bayern Munich decided it was time to pull the trigger and try and get Harry Kane to leave Tottenham.
It will be a tough task, as the London club, mostly Daniel Levy, aren’t all that interested in selling their main star, but with just one year left on his contract, the striker is at a crossroads.
Sport Bild have been covering the saga since its very beginning, and the German outlet bring the latest information about the Bavarians’ desire to sign the Tottenham forward this summer, which strangely enough involves Chelsea.
It has nothing to do with a desire from Todd Boehly and Mauricio Pochettino to sign him in this transfer window, but involves a past attempt from the Blues.
Down his end, the England international has ‘already signalled great interest’ in a move to Germany, but Tottenham ‘directly rejected a first €70m offer’ from Thomas Tuchel’s side.
The manager, who used to work at Chelsea, is ‘considered a big fan’ of the goalscorer, and that’s why he gave it a go when he was working at Stamford Bridge.
Bild reveal something ‘hardly anyone knew’, which is that Tuchel ‘wanted to convince Kane of a change’ during the summer of 2021.
This was a time when the striker’s future was already uncertain, and Marina Granovskaia, who was then in charge of transfers, ‘explored whether a deal was possible’.
However, this was ‘rebuffed’ by the Tottenham star, who told her that ‘he could never play for Chelsea’.
Now, though, Tuchel is no longer managing the city rivals, and ‘it seems that the chances with Bayern are at least significantly higher than they were’ back then.
