There’s an Argentine difference of opinion on Juan Foyth to Tottenham Hotspur, and whether the transfer is on the verge of being done, or if things have gone a little cold.
In the early hours of Sunday morning, Diario Hoy reported that Foyth to Tottenham was in the final stages. They’d been given that information from a source close to the developments who had spoken to Estudiantes president Juan Sebastián Verón last night.
The next step was to be Foyth’s agent and family sitting down to agree on the terms of a transfer to Tottenham.
However, El Dia don’t sound as optimistic. They report that Veron has now returned from his selling trip to Europe, which was supposed to sort out Foyth to Tottenham. Veron has returned ‘with some coldness’ for Spurs who ‘days ago had been willing to pay €10m for 100% of the player’s registration’.
El Dia suggest another club could have become involved, and edged Tottenham to the side, but it would be no surprise if Estudiantes thought they were set for a bigger Spurs offer than they actually got.
That’s how things work, especially with Tottenham.
