Tottenham are closing in on a deal for Rosario Central youngster Alejo Véliz, with increased confidence in Argentina that they will secure his signature.
Ole, TyC Sports and TNT Sports all cover the impending deal today as Spurs seem to plan for life without Harry Kane.
Ole kick things off by explaining that Véliz will be moving to the Premier League this summer ‘for a fortune’, with Tottenham having agreed a $17m deal plus bonuses.
Tottenham’s offer has been too good to refuse, though, with them offering $17m plus a bonus of $6m and a ‘capital gain’ of 10% in the case of a future sale.
TyC back this up, stating that the deal between Rosario and Tottenham is in the final stages with an agreement in place for $23m.
They state than an agreement was closed on Thursday after Spurs elected to pay $17m plus another $6m in bonuses and leave Rosario 10% of a future sale. Thus, the deal can reach $23m and makes him the most expensive departure, beating Facundo Buonanotte’s move to Brighton last year.
The youngster is now expected to travel to England in the next few days to seal his five-year contract at his new club.
TNT Sports, meanwhile, via journalist Matías García, report that Véliz is set to ‘take a big leap’ to the Premier League with Tottenham.
He will be the most expensive departure in the history of Rosario, who he says will receive exactly €15m for the player. The Argentine side had intended to keep him on loan until the end of the year, but all indications are that he will join Tottenham immediately instead.
