Tottenham Hotspur broke Burnley’s Turf Moor barriers down on Saturday and fought their way to a 2-0 victory. With Chelsea’s loss to Crystal Palace it means the Premier League title race is back on.
Burnley struggling to clear a ball in from Christian Eriksen provided Eric Dier with the chance to fire Tottenham ahead, and the England international was a rock for Spurs throughout the match.
Dier’s impressive performance has been recognised by Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who have included the 23 year old in their European Team of the Week. Gazzetta choose a selection every week from leagues all around Europe, whilst ignoring their own Serie A, and Dier’s performance against Burnley has seen him get the nod.
The Tottenham player is one of three from the Premier League included in the selection, which also has places for the likes of PSG’s Edinson Cavani and Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski.
Tottenham have had several players recognised by Gazzetta so far this season, and Burnley’s Michael Keane and Tom Heaton have found their way in more than once.
