Tottenham are ‘moving to satisfy’ Antonio Conte in the January transfer window and could do so with the signing of Stefan de Vrij from Inter Milan.
That’s according to Calciomercatoweb, who say alongside a potential €20m a year contract, Spurs are willing to splash out on further transfers to keep the Italian manager.
The objective is to please him and prove they are invested in the project under him, and it’s stated the focus for the January transfer window will be on improving the defence.
His agent, Federico Pastorello, is set to sit down with Inter to discuss a new deal as De Vrij’s contract will expire in the summer.
The Italian side want to negotiate down from the players current package of €4m a year but Tottenham could offer more than that with a deal worth around the same as what they gave Ivan Perisic.
Should an agreement be found with the defender and his agent, Fabio Paratici ‘would immediately go on the attack’ for the player with a bid of ‘no more than €4-5m’.
He could also offer Davinson Sanchez on a free loan with a redemption fee of €15-18m, to sweeten the pot and offer Inter an immediate replacement.
The Colombian ‘does not drive Conte crazy’ but has long been in Inter’s sights and Tottenham may try and use that to their advantage.
