As you might be aware, Harry Winks has yet to make an appearance for Sampdoria after being sent on loan there by Tottenham.
This is the midfielder’s first experience outside of Spurs in his career, and there was hope that, with little game time promised by Antonio Conte, the 26-year-old could play a lot in Italy.
The problem is he arrived injured, and while there were reports the player could quickly recover to start featuring for the Serie A side, that hasn’t been the case.
The Tottenham player has spent a lot of time training individually to try and get his ankle better, but that hasn’t helped much, and now Club Doria 46 are reporting Winks ‘returned to London in recent days’.
The reason for that visit was to have a ‘check-up visit by a specialist of his trust and of the England national team to try and understand’ his real condition.
The good news is that Club Doria 46’s sources claim the Tottenham player ‘would have come out relieved’ from his meeting.
Winks has since returned to Genoa ‘charged up’, and is ‘continuing to work to try to return to the field’ with his teammates.
However, the plan is for him to ‘return to London for a new and definitive’ before ‘the end of the year’, just to double check everything, with an aim to make himself available for the first time on January 4th against Sassuolo.
