Houssem Aouar hasn’t played as big a part in transfer rumours this summer as he was expected to. There’s not been the rush forward for his signing that Lyon may have hoped for, and the midfielder’s value clearly isn’t as high as it once was.
According to Le10 Sport, Tottenham have made a ‘big proposal’ for the player. That offer, made to Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas, would have seen Tanguy Ndombele and money sent to the Ligue 1 side, in return for Aouar.
However, Lyon manage Peter Bosz isn’t interested in the Spurs player, and his wages at the London club would be higher than Lyon could pay.
That doesn’t mean the chase is over, and it’s made clear Tottenham are considering making another offer for Aouar, presumably based on purely cash this time. Lyon won’t stop the player from leaving them in the final days of the window, provided the offer they receive is ‘satisfactory’.
Aulas won’t be able to ask for anything like the €60m+ he’s previously been said to want for the 23-year-old, with Aouar’s market value dropping over the past year.
