Tottenham could be handed a second chance at signing Cagliari midfielder Nahitan Nandez, with his agent insisting he’s been promised he can move by the club’s president.

Nandez was heavily linked with a move away from Cagliari for much of the summer, with several sides thought to be keen on him.

Tottenham were named among them on more than one occasion, with it felt Nuno Espirito Santo was keen to add another player to his midfield options.

Their interest was first reported early in the summer transfer window but quickly developed into something of a saga as the weeks went by.

It was reported that the midfielder was at the top of Fabio Paratici’s wishlist, and negotiations clearly happened between the two clubs, with several reports indicating as much.

Indeed at one point, it appeared Tottenham were close to sealing a deal, with it stated that Nandez ‘prepares his suitcases’ and the negotiations could be closed in a ‘short space of time’.

Despite all of that, a move never happened, with Nandez remaining at Cagliari despite having made it clear he would like to move.

The situation has not been resolved, and it seems the January transfer window will be another busy one for him and his agent.

“Cagliari? Giulini has promised the player and me to do everything possible so that he leaves in the January market,” Pablo Bentancur told Calcio Napoli 24 Live.

“Nandez wants to win something; he wants to play in the Champions League.

“The president has given us his word; Nandez has been the most expensive player in Cagliari’s history, but we know the crisis there has been.

“Goodbye on loan or outright? I think he will sell him at a lower price than the one requested, there is a 36 million clause but the president spoke yesterday with Nandez and told him that he will lower the price and let him leave.”
