Jeremy Toljan’s recent performances for Hoffenheim, and Germany U21’s, have attracted interest from major clubs, who would like to sign the 22 year old right back.
According to Bild’s information, Toljan is on the radar of Napoli, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur.
Tottenham’s interest seems to be the most serious at the moment, especially after Kyle Walker’s departure to Manchester City. Toljan’s current contract expires next year and Hoffenheim might be willing to sell him before the transfer value drops, or disappears entirely.
Toljan didn’t play in Hoffenheim’s friendly game against Derby County, and BILD speculated it could be an indication of his departure, giving further reason to push the Tottenham links.
However, coach Julian Nagelsmann refused this rumour: “No, there is no “signal” in the case I don’t include a player in a match. If a player wants to go, I tell it to him straight to their face. I wouldn’t refuse to take him for a game like a little boy. That would be a sign of my leadership weakness and I don’t believe in it.”
Yesterday we reported Tottenham were interested in Toljan, but faced competition from Benfica. It was suggested the Premier League side had a financial advantage over the Portuguese champions, and it was a case of Tottenham convincing the youngster to come to England.
