Over the past few weeks, reports coming out of Turkey have discussed interest from the Premier League in Fenerbahçe’s Vedat Muriqi.
On March 6th, Aksam reported that Manchester United and Leicester City could make a bid for the striker. Four days later, Takvim explained Tottenham Hotspur could offer €20m for the Kosovo international.
With 15 goals and six assists in all competitions for Fenerbahçe, the 25-year-old has drawn attention from clubs in England and Italy.
TuttoMercatoWeb claims the Red Devils, Spurs and Brendan Rodgers’ side ‘think about’ the player, while Napoli and Lazio are linked with the attacker.
The Italian website have managed to get in touch with Muriqi’s agent Haluk Canatar for an update regarding his client’s future.
When quizzed if Napoli and Lazio have made ‘themselves heard’ for Muriqi, Canatar responded: “As I said, let’s wait. I can neither confirm nor deny. Surely, he is a player who has shown himself and who is attracting the interest of several top clubs: there are negotiations, we will see how they will go on, without going too far.”
With United, Tottenham and Leicester also looking at Muriqi, TMW asked Canatar if the ‘Premier League competition makes it more complicated’.
“It’s not for sure. Indeed, I can tell you that right now his priority would be to play in Italy,” the agent stressed.
“Also, for a cultural factor if we want: he is Kosovar, and therefore Albanian in origin. In these difficult days, we have seen how close the link between Italy and Albania is. Coming to our country would be his first choice.”
