Atletico Madrid have set their sights on Real Betis’ Giovani Lo Celso, according to COPE, as relayed by El Desmarque.
Diego Simeone’s side are interested in the midfielder and they now join the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Everton, who have ‘closely followed’ the Argentine.
It’s not the first time Mauricio Pochettino’s side and the Toffees’ interest in the 23-year-old is discussed, as El Gol Digital reported on May 9th that two clubs are after the player.
Having arrived at the La Liga side on loan from Paris Saint-Germain last summer, his temporary deal was made permanent in January.
Spurs, Marco Silva’s side or Los Rojiblancos will have to meet the demands of Betis to take the South American away.
Even though his release clause is set at €100m, Mundo Deportivo state that Betis would be looking at €60m.
After having allowed Lucas Hernandez to join Bayern Munich and with Antoine Griezmann’s impending exit, Atletico will have cash at their disposal in order to secure Lo Celso’s services.
It is to be seen whether or not Tottenham and Everton will be able to compete with Simeone’s side for Lo Celso, who has 16 goals and five assists across all competitions.
