Riccardo Calafiori joined Arsenal from Bologna last summer and has had an injury-troubled first season at the Emirates.

The left-footed defender has picked up multiple knee injuries and calf problems and the last time he played in the Premier League was in March.

The Italian could now find his future at Arsenal uncertain and AC Milan are interested in bringing him back to Italy.

MilanLive have reported that Calafiori has been on the Rossoneri’s radar for a while and they believe his current situation at the Emirates can prompt Milan to move for him.

The outlet states that Arsenal will consider his summer sale and would want a fee of at least €35m to sell him.

The Gunners are keeping a close eye on Milan’s Malick Thiaw and a swap plus cash deal involving the German defender could be one way for Sergio Conceicao’s side to land Calafiori.

The Diavolo want to form an Italian core in the summer and the versatile defender would be a part of that revolution in the squad.

However, the report feels quite presumptuous. It is typical for the Italian press to link ex-Serie A players with a move back to Italy in the hope that a transfer ends up happening.
