There aren’t any huge updates on the Victor Lindelof chase today. But it doesn’t mean the subject doesn’t take up entire pages in the biggest Portuguese sport newspapers.
They’ll all covering José Mourinho’s Monday comments about transfers (which we covered here), and his reaction to being asked about the Benfica defender.
Lindelof has been saying all the right things about concentrating on his current club and international duty, but his words weren’t enough to calm transfer stories.
A Bola, O Jogo, and Record all say that Lindelof is moving to Manchester United on a €35m deal plus bonuses.
A Bola even add that he’s signing a five-year contract with the Premier League club.
The consensus is that the player is finalising the move after Sweden’s next two matches.
Those are against France and Norway on Friday and Tuesday, respectively, but O Jogo claims the deal will be done after the match against Bulgaria.
Sweden are only playing Bulgaria August 31st, so the newspaper probably just made a mistake with the national team’s schedule.
We hope so, anyway.
All the newspapers mentioned agree that details are being sorted out at the moment to enable a transfer to Manchester United to be concluded relatively quickly.
