Sevilla have a plan. Yes, another plan. There’s a plan a day coming from sources close to the Andalusia club at the moment.
The latest idea is Michy Batshuayi. The Chelsea player gets the front page of Tuesday’s Estadio Deportivo, and the newspaper claims that sources very close to the club have revealed the desire for a deal.
Sevilla’s idea is to agree a deal similar to the ones they got Samir Nasri and Steven Jovetic on in the past two windows. Chelsea would loan Batshuayi to Sevilla, include a reasonable buying clause, and still continue to pay a chunk of his wages.
At the beginning of last season, Nasri was one of the best players in La Liga. Sevilla repeatedly gambled with his fitness, played him through injury, and clearly gave zero thought to the player’s future. Predictably, Nasri’s season fell to pieces, and Sevilla’s local press made it clear the club never had any intention of paying the agreed clause anyway.
Chelsea would have to be pretty trusting to hand Batshuayi to Sevilla, continue to pay a big chunk of his wages, and believe the Spanish club respected any clause even a little bit. Perhaps trusting is the incorrect word, stupid would probably be better.
Roman Abramovich and those in charge at Chelsea will surely laugh this Sevilla idea off.
