Chelsea and Liverpool are involved in a battle to sign Brighton & Hove Albion star Moisés Caicedo.
Liverpool have reached an agreement with the Seagulls but the midfielder doesn’t favour a move to Anfield. This has given the Blues, who have long been chasing Caicedo, a hope to secure his services.
Today’s Diario Extra in Ecuador talks about an agreement between Chelsea and the 21-year-old.
Former Ecuador international Jorge Guagua, who now works as an agent, has hailed the Brighton player for snubbing Liverpool and ‘respecting his agreement’ with Chelsea.
“Perhaps another player sees more money and forgets what he previously promised. If he’s kept his word to Chelsea, that’s perfect. That speaks well not only as a player, but as a human being,” he said.
Another former Ecuador international, Eduardo Hurtado, has also echoed Guagua’s views.
“As a player, you review and realise clubs that were behind you and Chelsea were always in the race. If Moisés has given his word to Chelsea, he has spoken with Pochettino and he told him that they are interested in him playing in London, he is welcome, beyond the monetary issue,” Hurtado explained.
Journalist Gianluca Di Marzio took to Twitter to explain that Chelsea haven’t sent a new bid to Brighton yet and are ‘expected’ to table it on Saturday.
He makes no mention of the fee Chelsea are planning to offer Brighton for the South American.
