Manchester City signed Savinho from Troyes in the summer window. The winger arrived at the Etihad after spending last two seasons on loan at Girona.
The Premier League winners are owned by the City Football Group [CFG], who have also made investments at Troyes and the La Liga side. This helped them to initially buy the 20-year-old for the French club and then sell him to Manchester City.
AS say Manchester City are looking to replicate the formula to sign Corinthians youngster Luiz Gustavo Bahia.
The 18-year-old has been representing Corinthians U20 and made 25 appearances for this year. The Brazilian club’s ‘pearl’ is about to fulfil his ‘great dream’ of making his way into the first team.
It’s claimed Bahia is set to be included in the senior squad for the weekend clash against Vitória. This should please the CFG, who are keeping close tabs on him.
The report states the Manchester City owners intend to secure his services and replicate the Savinho formula. In other words, the CFG want to take him to one of their clubs, with an aim of Bahia ‘taking big step towards’ Manchester City in the future.
Bahia’s deal lasts until 2027 and AS state it includes a €50m release clause. It’s not made clear whether the CFG are willing to activate his clause.
