Ezgjan Alioski has enjoyed an interesting international break, with two good results for the Leeds United player.
Whilst Macedonia’s chances of qualifying for the World Cup were already gone, things are looking optimistic for the future of the country’s national team.
Alioski, and his Macedonia side, were praised in Italy after they managed an unlikely 1-1 away draw in Turin. One of the few Italians not to be criticised after the match was Chelsea’s Davide Zappacosta, who managed to keep a lid on the Leeds player.
Despite that, Alioski was still praised by Gazzetta dello Sport: ‘Lively, cunning, quick feet’
After the Italy game came Liechtenstein, who were dispatched 4-0 in Macedonia. Alioski was again heavily involved, although he didn’t manage to get a goal himself on Monday evening.
Arijan Ademi, returning from a two year doping ban, came on towards the end of the match and even managed to score a goal, and was then unable to hold back his tears of joy.
Alioski will certainly be returning to Elland Road with plenty of stories to tell.
